A new beginning/Lydia Andersen

As I remove the tattered cloth that covers my mouth and nose
A cloth that shields me from the rest of the world
I am greeted with the greatest blessing
One that is few and far between as of recent
A breath of fresh air

The rays of the bright shining sun hit my pale skin
Providing me with a sense of warmth
The kind of warmth that hasn’t been felt in months
I stop to take this all in

I hear the sounds of the blue birds chirping at the sky
I hear the subtle wind swirl as it blows my hair off my shoulder
I hear people laughing about nothing
I hear dogs barking as they see wildlife running free
With all of this, my ears filled with happiness

The brisk cold has come and gone
The snow has descended into the ground
The flowers have begun to sprout through the earth
It is time for new beginnings
