flowering/Trenton Bebermeier

i feel as though i'm flowering now
flowering? no, blossoming.
that's the correct word.

but it isn't true.

i feel as though i'm flowering now.
nothing changes that.
say all you want that
'flowering'
is not the word
i should be using in my lines.

i feel time tickle my cheeks.
and it is the truth.
the clock's ticker
scratches my cheeks
everytime i hear
its battle cry.

my brain is bubbly.
the liquid in it is so warm,
it has started to boil
and the steam pockets
bounce around my skull.

you can't pop them.
you can't touch them.
you can't see them.

only i have the power to
release the pressure,
with the dull point
of a clock's ticker,
itching my cheek.

only I can pop
those bubbles.

and so,
I feel as though I'm flowering.
